Read and Lead Library

Getting books into the hands of scholars

Read and Lead Library

Read and Lead Library is a program sponsored by the PTA to ensure every child goes home with a new or gently used book each month. Did you know reading skills are built at home? According to the Department of Education, the more students read or are read to for fun on their own time and at home, the higher their reading scores. Reading and being read aloud to has an impact that extends beyond just hearing stories. According to literacyproject.org, a study of nearly 100,000 U.S. school children showed access to printed materials was the key variable affecting reading skills.

Our PTA program supports reading literacy by hosting book drives throughout the year. Stay tuned by checking our events page! We also use budgeted funds acquired through fundraising efforts to purchase new and gently used books to help keep our Read and Lead Library shelves full of age appropriate, relevant, and fun reading materials for our scholars.

If you are interested in supporting this program, consider setting aside some gently used books you're no longer needing, or picking up a few the next time you're at a thrift shop or garage sale. We also need volunteers to help sort the books and set up the shelves for our monthly Read and Lead Libarary days.
